About the Williamsburg gallery scene
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Williamsburg was the frontier of the Brooklyn art scene, drawing artists across the river with cheap space and a DIY ethos. The neighborhood has changed enormously since, but a real gallery presence remains, now sharing the streets with music venues, design studios, and some of the best skyline views in the city.
It pairs easily with a walk along the East River waterfront and is a short subway hop or ferry ride from Manhattan. These are the Williamsburg galleries we track.
